We perform the complex analysis for pertussis (whooping cough)

We have improved the laboratory diagnostics opportunities for pertussis, and with PCR method we perform the complex analysis for pertussis. While using the nasopharynx specimen, nasopharynx aspirate or the larynx specimen as the sample materials, the presence of both Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis/bronchiseptica DNA is examined in the sample material.

A new laboratory was opened in Viljandi

The people from the city and county of Viljandi can now present their tests in the city centre of Viljandi.

In 2005 Quattromed HTI laboratory opened a blood sample collection office in Leola street working three days a week. It was a chance to give the patients a possibility to perform tests for their health check (blood, urine etc) which were sent to the laboratory of Tartu for examination.

Now laboratory in Viljandi was olened , address Turu 8/10, room 216.

The laboratory is open on every workday 8–14. There is an elevator in the house for making testing available for people with small children or patients with mobility disabilities.
The laboratory of Viljandi serves patients both with or without the doctor’s prescription. The patients without the doctor’s prescription are charged for the tests according to the price list of the Estonian Health Insurance Fund.

On March 1, from 12.00 to 13.30, the laboratory was open to the public, so everybody interested could get acquainted with the laboratory. In connection with the opening of the laboratory, 24 family doctors and nurses were provided a training about the possibilities of the laboratory, the innovations in the diagnostics of venereal diseases, the possibilities of microbiology and the interpretation of the referential values. The training took place in the conference centre of the Centrum Hotel and it was free of charge for the audience.

The changes in the referential values and additional analyses

In relation to the occupation of new analyzers and the transition to a new laboratory information system from 03.01.2011, the following changes are introduced:

The reference values of some laboratory analyses are changed.
In the annex of the present letter, there is the list of all the tests performed in our laboratory, together with the reference values valid from 03.01.2011. The changes are highlighted separately. All the printouts of the test results and the answers from the electronic data interchange are added the correct referentce values.

The barcode system will become more simple.
The present material-based barcode system of letter-number combinations will be substituted with standard barcodes, where the material symbols (EV, TP, PL, SA, TV) are no longer used. All the existing barcodes can be used up without any time limit, then new barcodes will be issued.

The reference book descriptions will be added to the analyses that we have started to perform in our laboratory:
o D-dimers
o Antibodies to cyclic citrullinated peptide
o Tumour marker CA 72-4
o Specific IgA, IgM, IgG to Bordetella pertussis
o Specific IgM, IgA, IgG to Chlamydia trachomatis
o Specific IgM, IgG to Herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2
o Specific IgM, IgG to Varicella Zoster virus
o Campylobacter examination
o Clostridium difficile examination
o Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) examination
o Determination of Helicobacter pylori antigen from the Faeces
o Determination of Norovirus from the Faeces
o Yersinia examination

The reference book descriptions are available and printable in Estonian under Laboriteatmik.

We hope that those carefully prepared changes will help us fulfill your expectations.

The development program of the Quattromed HTI team in co-operation with EAS is commenced

During the program the employees of the laboratories from different localizations are provided a development program with trainings, forums and a video day.

From 01.11.10 to 31.01.11 the implementation of the project „The team’s development program II“ is supported by the program of developing the knowledge and skills of the Enterprise Estonia. The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The sperm analyses are no longer performed

We have finished performing sperm analyses in the laboratory and we start a cooperation with the Mens’ Clinic of Tartu University Hospital in this field.

The decision was induced by the fact that the sperm analysis as a separate analysis usually does not solve the problem of the patient. Usually there are examinations of childlessness that need a complex clinical approach, and sperm analyses are only a part of it. At the same time, it can be confirmed that the Men’s Clinic of the Tartu University Hospital is our good long-term partner whose criteria of high quality and purposefulness we are convinced of.

That is why we suggest the patients who wish to have a sperm analysis, to turn to the Men’s clinic of Tartu University Hospital. It is possible to register by e-mail: meestekliinik@kliinikum.ee or by phone: +372 737 7090.
